Most people download a new app, poke around for five minutes, and never really use it. We don't want that for you. So here's a clear, step-by-step guide to getting maximum value from Eatvora in your first week — with realistic time estimates for each step.

Follow this in order and by day 7, Eatvora will be actively saving you money.

Day 1
Takes 2 minutes

Scan your grocery receipt

This is the single most important thing you can do. Find your most recent grocery receipt — the paper one in your pocket or a digital one in your email. Open Eatvora, tap the scan button, and photograph it. The app reads the receipt and adds everything to your pantry automatically, with estimated expiry dates for each item.

If you don't have a receipt, spend 5 minutes manually adding the items currently in your fridge. Start with raw meat, fish, vegetables, and dairy — the things that expire fastest.

Day 2
Takes 3 minutes

Turn on expiry notifications

Go to your Profile tab, then Settings, and make sure notifications are enabled. This is the feature that changes daily behaviour. Eatvora will alert you the day before something expires — so instead of discovering mouldy chicken on Thursday, you get a nudge on Wednesday evening saying "your chicken expires tomorrow — here's what to cook with it."

Free users get 1-day warnings. Premium users get alerts at 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before expiry — giving you more time to plan.

Day 3
Takes 5 minutes

Generate your first AI recipe

Go to the Recipes tab and tap "Generate Recipe." Eatvora will look at everything in your pantry and suggest meals that use the ingredients closest to expiring. You can filter by cuisine type, dietary requirements, number of servings, and preparation time.

Try to cook at least one of the suggested recipes this week. This is where Eatvora starts turning data into real savings — a meal made from ingredients you already have costs nothing extra and prevents waste.

Day 5
Takes 2 minutes

Check the Home screen savings card

By day 5, your pantry should have enough data to start showing meaningful numbers. Open the app and look at the savings card on the Home screen. It shows you how much money you've protected from being wasted this week. Even small numbers — $8, $15 — represent real food that would have gone in the bin without Eatvora.

The number grows as you use the app more consistently. Some users see $80–$150 per month by the end of their first month.

Day 7
Takes 10 minutes

Scan your next grocery shop receipt

When you do your next food shop, photograph the receipt as soon as you get home — before unpacking. This keeps your pantry accurate and up to date. The habit of scanning every receipt is what separates users who save $20 a month from users who save $120 a month. The app only knows what you tell it — and receipts are the fastest way to tell it everything at once.

Bonus: Invite your household. If you live with a partner, family member, or flatmate, invite them to join your household in Eatvora (Plus tier). Everyone sees the same pantry in real time — so nobody buys milk when there's already two pints in the fridge, and everyone can see what's about to expire.

What to Expect After Week One

After your first week, you should have:

From week two onwards, the habit kicks in. You scan receipts automatically. You check the expiry alerts. You cook from what you have. And the savings number grows every week.

Most users find that after 30 days, they can't imagine doing their groceries without it.
